The Aga Khan University (AKU) is a private, not-for-profit, international University first established in 1983, with 11 teaching sites in eight countries. The Aga Khan University, Nairobi through the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, offers fellowship training in various subspecialties of medicine.
Positions Summary
The fellows will undertake fellowship studies and shall function under the supervision of the attending medical staff. In this role, a fellow assist with admissions, consultations, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatments of hospital patients. He/she may perform certain procedures without supervision once he/she attains a certain level of competency and may also provide verbal, written, and telephone orders.
Sponsorship Details and Stipulations
Successful candidates will be offered a full scholarship covering tuition and living expenses. Upon successful completion of the programme, beneficiaries of the scholarship will be required to serve the institution in the capacity of full-time employees at the soon-to-be-established Aga Khan University Hospital, Kampala.
Entry Requirements:
Candidates will be considered eligible for trainee fellowship if they meet all the following requirements:
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent.
Master of Medicine degree, or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Registered/ eligible for registration to practice in Uganda by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
4 years’ post-internship experience.
