Dr. Waceke Nganga Kombe

Dr. Waceke Nganga Kombe is a paediatric gastroenterologist and the current Program Director for the Master of Medicine Program in Paediatrics and Child Health. Her mission is to provide quality paediatric and gastroenterology services to clients and instill correct knowledge, skills, and competencies to the students that she instructs. She completed her MBChB training at the University of Nairobi in 2002 and Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health at the same university in 2010. She did a two-year fellowship in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Red Cross War Memorial Hospital, Cape Town and obtained a Sub speciality certificate from the College of Medicine of South Africa for the same in 2015.

Her research interests are on hepatitis B, food allergy, inflammatory bowel disease in Africa and functional GI disorders and their interaction with the microbiota. She is an active member of the Kenya Paediatric Association and Allergy Society of Kenya, where she serves on the executive committee. She is also a corresponding member of the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and a recipient of the 2013 ESPGHAN fellowship scholarship award, and an ESPGHAN travel award in 2016.
