Layal Mohammad is a Senior Coordinator, Marketing and Communications. She joined the Aga Khan University's Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (AKU-ISMC) as a Coordinator, Marketing, Communications and Professional Programmes in 2017. Layal holds a BA in English Literature with First-Class Honours for achieving the highest grades during her studies at Al-Baath University, Syria. She was also honoured on numerous occasions and received the Academic Excellence Award for her academic accomplishments. Layal studied an MA in English Linguistics in Syria then an MA in Muslim Cultures at AKU-ISMC in London. After that, she received a Certificate (Level 4) in Professional Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK. Prior to joining AKU-ISMC, she worked as a volunteer in an institution for children with special needs, as an English language instructor and as a translator and office administrator for ARBEET for Engineering and Consulting in Syria. She also worked for the MCA and KITAB projects at AKU-ISMC in London. In her current role, Layal undertakes both offline and online marketing for the Institute's programmes and activities. In addition, she is responsible for AKU-ISMC website and coordinates with other team members both in London and Karachi. Layal, also, manages AKU-ISMC social media platforms, develops and designs marketing collateral for the Institute's various programmes and takes responsibility for the marketing and communications of the Aga Khan Library, London. Simultaneously, Layal serves as a member of ITREB Communications Committee in the UK.
