Introduction

I am an Assistant Professor of History in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Aga Khan University. My work examines gender, empire, and decoloniality from the nineteenth century to the present-day in modern South Asia, the British Empire, and other global contexts.

I am presently pursuing two intellectual projects. The first examines the gendered politics of archival presence and responds to recent scholarship on reading histories of gender and women through abundance. The second focuses on history, politics, and pedagogical nationalism in Pakistan. I am also deeply interested in the tangible and theoretical lives of decoloniality and am working on an article manuscript that proposes a revisionist history of postcolonial Britain. I received my PhD in History from the University of Chicago where I also taught for two years before joining AKU.
