Professor Rukhsana W Zuberi
Dr. Rukhsana W Zuberi, MBBS, FCPS-Med, MHPE-UIC, USA, holds the Endowed Noor Mohammad E Mewawalla Professor of Family Medicine, Interim Director Center for Innovation in Medical Education (CIME), Chair of CIME Leadership Development and Financial Sustainability Committees, Aga Khan University.
Dr. Zuberi’s national contributions are development and recognition of Family Medicine as a specialty by the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan (CPSP), the national postgraduate accrediting and examining body. She was a member of the Curriculum Committee of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), and chaired the national MBBS curriculum revision for the Higher Education Commission, based on competency-based medical education. Currently, she is a Councilor at the CPSP, Director National Residency Programme (South), and Chair CPSP Curriculum Committee.
At the Aga Khan University, she led the initiative for Curricular Renewal in the Undergraduate Medical Education programme, including introduction of Problem-Based-Learning. As Associate Dean Education, Faculty of Health Sciences, she developed and implemented the Advanced Diploma and Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE). Under her leadership, AKU-MC received two ASPIRE Awards for Recognition of Excellence in Student Assessment and for Student Engagement, 2013. During this period, Dr. Zuberi chaired the group that conceptualized the Skills lab and its Commissioning Group. The latter during discussions was transformed into a Skills Learning Center and then to its current form of a Center for Innovation in Medical Education (CIME).
She is a member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Group on Capacity Building, Association of Medical Education in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (AMEEMR). She is an International Liaison Officer and Ambassador for the Association of Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) in Pakistan, and also a member of the Assessment Panel for the international Aspire Awards for Excellence in Medical Education.
She is also a member of the International Editorial Board of the journal “Medical Education”.
