The East Africa Institute (EAI) of the Aga Khan University is a regional platform for policy-oriented research, performance and dialogue, which focuses on the most consequential drivers of change in the East Africa Community. Our priority areas of research are:

Over the last four years, the EAI has conducted policy-relevant research, and convened public debate and dialogue on youth, urbanization, urban food systems, extractive resources and the application of data analytics to understand social and economic outcomes. We are currently in the final process of compiling data from a national survey in formal and informal establishments on job entry level skills among Kenyan youth aged 18-25 years. The EAI is also deploying data analytic tools to develop a national health atlas for Kenya, detailing the spatial patterns of morbidity and mortality.
