Admission Requirements

EN-RN Conversion Diploma Programme in Kenya

Required clinical experience
In accordance with Kenya Nursing Council requirements, students are responsible for identifying a hospital(s) and/or clinic(s) where they will be able to gain the following clinical experience:

  • Surgical Nursing:  8 weeks; 
  • Medical Nursing:  8 weeks;
  • Paediatric Nursing:  4 weeks;
  • Casualty / OPD:  4 weeks;
  • Obstetric Nursing:  10 weeks;
  • Community Health Nursing:  8 weeks;
  • Psychiatric Nursing:   4 weeks

Minimum Academic Eligibility 

  • Form IV level of education with a minimum aggregate of D+ in K.C.S.E or its equivalent, i.e. K.C.E Division III;
  • A minimum of three years continuous experience in nursing practice;
  • Must be a Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse (K.E.C.H.N) and in good standing with the Nursing Council of Kenya;
  • Must meet relevant University requirements. 

Students will be required to attend an orientation session during which they will complete the Nursing Council Indexing Forms and will also be introduced to Module One of the Distance Learning Programme. The following original documents, as well as one personal passport-size photograph, need to be submitted on this day to facilitate completion of the Nursing Council Indexing Forms: 

  • Birth certificate;
  • K.C.S.E certificate;
  • Previous Nursing Council enrolment number and date.​
  • Nursing Council certificate;
  • Previous Nursing Council index number and date;
