The Diploma in Oncology Nursing programme is an 18-month work-study
programme aimed at educating nurses to function as specialized oncology nurses
who can advance cancer care across the illness trajectory and at all levels of
care by providing safe, competent, compassionate and quality cancer care.
The programme is based on the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology
(CANO) standards and competencies for the specialist oncology nurse adapted to
contextual relevance. Students will take responsibility for their education and
develop critical thinking and reasoning in the process of learning. A range of
formative and summative assessment methods will be used to facilitate and
assess the achievement of the programme outcomes.

Form IV level of education with a minimum aggregate score of C (plain) in KCSE; Division II in KCE/EACE
A minimum C (plain) grade in the following mandatory subjects: English and Biology/ Biological sciences
At least two years of continuous experience in a clinical care setting as a Registered Nurse, preferably in an oncology or in a medical-surgical (adult or pediatric) setting
A current registration and a valid practicing license
