Vice Provost, East Africa
Dr Kweku K Bentil was appointed Vice Provost, East Africa in July 2013.
Based in Nairobi, Dr Bentil has university-wide responsibilities - across all AKU campuses - for quality assurance, academic programmes and faculty relations and development. In addition, he is responsible for administrative oversight of academic budgeting, pre-university enrichment programs, continuing and professional education, academic partnerships and community engagement.
Dr Bentil completed his undergraduate studies at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He attended graduate school at the University of Florida (in Gainesville) where he earned his Master of Science degree followed by his PhD degree in Civil Engineering. Kweku served in the private sector/industry for 10 years prior to beginning his academic career at the University of Florida in 1985. He earned tenure, as an associate professor, at the University of Florida in 1989. He has been a full professor since 1996 and has previously served in several senior-level academic administrative and leadership positions.
