Mr Navroz Surani
Director, Human Resources - Talent Development
Mr Surani is a key member of the Global Human Resource team at AKU. He oversees the University's HR Recruitment/Outreach office for North America and is currently based in Toronto, Canada. In this role since 2009, he provides recruitment and talent management support to the University by facilitating talent identification for various AKU campuses.
Mr Surani serves as a focal point person for the pursuit of professional talent throughout North America. In addition, he also manages the placement of international volunteers to various AKU campuses.
Prior to this global role, he was the Head of Human Resources function at AKU Pakistan for a period of over 18 years. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the entire HR function of the University encompassing areas of recruitment, employee relations, learning and development and total rewards.
He has keen interest in reshaping the HR function to a strategic mode involving designing and crafting of progressive HR practices, ensuring HR professionalism and building a strong HR team capable of delivering best- practices policies and programs.
As a Certified Human Resource Executive (CHRE-Ontario) he holds a Bachelor's in Laws and a Master in Business Administration from University of Karachi (IBA) and Masters in Human Resources and Industrial Relations (MIR/HR) from Queen's University Canada.
Mr Surani is the founding member and former President of the Pakistan Society for Human Resource Management. He is currently serving as a member on the HR Steering Committee of the Association of Commonwealth Universities UK. He is the recipient of the Global Super Achievers HR award 2006 presented by the Indira Group of Institutes, Pune India.
