AKU-FAS Seminar

'New Directions for Libraries in the Internet Age'

The planned Aga Khan University Faculty of Arts and Sciences (AKU-FAS) held its first academic seminar on November 10 and 11, 2005. The theme of the seminar was 'More than Books: New Directions for Academic Libraries' and Ms Lorin Ritchie, University Librarian of the American University of Sharjah, UAE was the guest speaker. East Africa Graduation Ceremonies

The AKU East Africa graduation ceremonies, were held in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya in the third week of December 2005. This was the first time that an AKU graduation ceremony was held in all three of the East African countries where the University has a presence. Full Story

Dr Carl Amrhein, Provost and Vice President Academics, University of Alberta, Canada, was the speaker at AKU's Special Lecture Series programme in November 2005. International Seminar on Indoor Air Pollution from Household Fuels

Smoke from Wood and Animal Dung Causes Nearly 25,000 Infant Deaths Every Year in Pakistan


AKU and World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva, held an international seminar titled 'Indoor Air Pollution from Household Fuels' in September. It highlighted the harmful effects on poor mothers and children from smoke generated by biomass fuels. Full Story
