Chairman of the Board of Trustees

Ambassador Dehlavi has an MA degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.

A career diplomat, he was a senior member of the Pakistan Foreign Service when he retired in 2001 as Ambassador to the European Union. He has been Pakistan's Ambassador to France as well as Permanent Delegate to UNESCO in Paris. He has also been Ambassador to Switzerland, the Vatican, Yugoslavia, Albania and Ireland. Earlier he served in Ankara and New Delhi, and as Director of the Foreign Minister's Office and then as Director General for South Asia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Dehlavi has received several international decorations, including the Légion d'Honneur from France. He speaks French, Italian and Turkish.

He was appointed member of Aga Khan University Board of Trustees in 2000 and became its Chairman in July 2001.
