Dr J. Fraser Mustard
An MD from the University
of Toronto and a PhD from Cambridge University, Dr
Mustard was a faculty member in Medicine and Pathology
at the University of Toronto from 1956 to 1966. In
1966 Dr Mustard took part in establishing the new Medical
School at McMaster University as the Professor of Pathology.
In 1972 he became Dean of Medicine and was appointed
Vice-President of Health Sciences. He has been
a member of several scientific organisations, received
awards for medical research and numerous honorary degrees.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. In 1982
he founded the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research
and is currently its Founding President and Institute
Fellow. He has been a Board member of three Canadian
corporations. A Founding Trustee of Aga Khan University,
Dr Mustard has been a member since the inception of
its Board (1985). In 1994, he was made a Companion
of the Order of Canada and inducted into the Medical
Hall of Fame in 2003.
