Planned as part of the Government of Sindh's "Education City", the Aga Khan University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Pakistan (FAS-PK) will sit on 560 acres of land. It will be a "green" campus incorporating wind turbines, geo-thermal technology and solar energy in its environmentally-sustainable design.
Education City aims to maximize the intellectual and physical investment that a number of educational and health institutions have planned to make in Karachi.
An initiative of the Government of Sindh, the site is located just 55 kilometers outside of Karachi and includes 9000 acres of land that has been designated for higher education and health institutions.
Other institutions that are also investing in this initiative include Institute of Urology and Transplantation, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute for Science and Technology, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, Habib University Foundation and Ziauddin Medical University.
The Aga Khan University is committed to working closely with the Government of Sindh and the institutional stakeholders' of Education City for the development of the Education City Master Plan as the project moves forward.
