Health Care Organisations

During the period of construction of Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), students acquired their clinical experience from other institutions in Karachi, namely Pakistan Naval Shifa Hospital (PNS Shifa) and as a reciprocal act, Aga Khan University School of Nursing (AKU-SON) prepared their nursing students as Registered Nurses (RN) from 1980-1987. AKU-SON acknowledges the contribution of other institutions and agencies namely Liaquat National Hospital (LNH), Holy Family Hospital, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and Aga Khan Health Services Network in providing clinical experience for students in the early days of the school and those that currently continue to assist student learning, that is Dr. Ziaudddin Hospital and Rahat Kada. We are also grateful to the communities of Sindh where our nursing students learn to apply the concepts of primary health care, community health nursing and community development.
