University Research Council
 

The University Research Council (URC) is a standing committee of the Academic Council. URC has responsibility for research policy and management at the University, allocating the University's resources for research, and support for the building of research capacity and culture throughout the University.

URC approves allocation of available resources for research within the policy framework of the University. It develops policies and makes recommendations in areas such as strengthening, promoting and institutionalising research capacity; establishing institutional priorities for research; coordinating research linkages with graduate studies; promoting partnerships within Aga Khan University (AKU) and with other institutions; periodic review and assurance of research quality in conjunction with the International Advisory Committee for Research ethical consideration of research, including involvement of animals, humans as individuals and communities, genetic engineering, and reproductive technology; an annual review of research achievements of AKU.
