International Advisory Committee on Research (IACR)
 

Terms of Reference

1.0 Mandate:

  The International Advisory Committee for Research (IACR) is advisory to the Board of Trustees, Provost, President and University Research Council on matters concerning research, particularly the following:
 
  • Building the University's research plans and capacity for multidisciplinary research;
  • Establishing research priorities for allocation of resources in respect of the diversity of needs and opportunities in the developing world;
  • Building and maintaining strong and high quality research; including provision of consultation and advice on the following: 
    • University's management of research and research funding;
    • Periodic evaluation of research achievements and directions, taking into consideration the University's resource base and opportunities;
    • International linkages for development and collaborative work;
    • Sources of research support and infrastructure.

2.0 Membership

2.1  The Committee shall consist of four to seven members from different geographic regions, whose experience is broadly based and includes different levels of support for research.

2.2 Members shall be appointed by the Academic Council, upon the recommendation of the Provost/ President and the University Research Council.

2.3 The term for membership shall be 3 years. A member may be re-appointed for additional terms or parts thereof.
