The policy relates to laboratories and study areas required for research and graduate studies in Juma Building .

Long-Term Allocation

The following criteria are proposed for long-term allocation of space:

  • Funded research of faculty for the support of which the University has appropriate facilities and capacity, and students who are enrolled in a graduate programme at AKU or have been accepted for research work from other institutions.
  • Limited duration; continuity is conditional upon demonstrated progress.
  • Preliminary or pilot studies that are supported by departmental operational funds.

Short-Term Allocation

Teaching space, seminar rooms and small group discussion rooms could be available by schedule.

  • Programmes that have funds primarily to support for laboratory work, consumable and personnel-related costs.
  • Research training programmes to establish a research base within core disciplines and for the training of researchers in thematic and non-thematic but important areas of biomedical research.
  • Research project/ programmes that assure interdisciplinary interaction with a promise to develop into long-term collaborative projects.
  • Programmes involving laboratory facilities not available elsewhere in the FHS.
  • Programmes/ Projects/ Individuals who do not have adequate research or teaching space elsewhere in the campus.
