Selection Process

A systematic, objective and transparent process has been laid down to induct new interns each year. About 400 candidates apply annually for our internship programme from all over the country. They are short-listed through a written test comprising of multiple choice questions (MCQ) and an English exam. This exam is conducted simultaneously at Karachi and Rawalpindi centers. These candidates are then interviewed through multiple mini interviews format, which consists of multiple interactions of shorter duration (like OSCE), testing interpersonal and clinical skills to evaluate one as a safe doctor on ward. Each interaction looks at one aspect of skills required for internship. There will be one interviewer at each station where each candidate performs the same task and goes through the similar set of questions. The scores of the MCQ test and interviews are used to calculate a total score which brings out a final merit list. There is no preference to any candidate on the basis of gender, previous scores, or geography. The scoring system is rigorous, fair and independently reviewed.

This year after the MCQ test, shortlisted candidates will need to appear for the multiple mini interview which runs in a circuit of eight stations of eight minute each. This is scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 . The venue and timings will be notified through the letter and website at later date.

Validity of Provisional PMDC Certificate

Candidates selected for the Internship programme are required to ensure that their Provisional PMDC Certificate is valid for the entire duration of their training. In case the validity of the PMDC certificate expires during the training period, candidates will be responsible to get them renewed.
