Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, Aga Khan University announces major Research Grants

The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at Aga Khan University (AKU) is pleased to announce the successful award of five major international research grants (details). These grants, totalling almost US$ 7.8 million, represent the culmination of a huge effort at soliciting competitive research funding from some of the leading global research funding bodies. These grants are also a strong endorsement of the research direction and focus of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health and the investment in research capacity enhancement at AKU. Some of these grants are in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan and WHO and thus have the potential to influence health policy in Pakistan and the neighbouring region.

Over the past two decades, the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has brought in numerous international research grants worth US$ 11 million. This year's grants are an outstanding achievement and notably record-breaking for AKU. Congratulations to Drs Zulfiqar Bhutta, Anita Zaidi and their vibrant research team who have set a pace that honours their enthusiasm and commitment.
