Opening Ceremony of ESRA-Supported "Certificate in Education: Educational Leadership and Management Programme" for Sindh and Balochistan Education Officials

 

The opening ceremony of the first Certificate in Education: Educational Leadership and Management Programme for District officers, Education (Elementary/Academic and Training), Assistant District Education officers and head teachers of elementary and primary schools of the selected districts of Sindh and Balochistan provinces, will be held from March 4, 2004 to June 26, 2004 at Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), Karimabad, Karachi.

The field-based 10-week programme has been designed on the basis of needs assessment of education officials of districts Thatta, Hyderabad, Khairpur, Sukkur, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Gwadar, and Turbat. The programme is funded by USAID through Research Triangle Institute-Education Sector Reform Assistance (RTI-ESRA). Thirty two participants are expected to attend this programme. The ceremony will take place in the Multi-Purpose Hall.  The aim of the programme is to re-orientate education officials about their roles and responsibilities as pedagogical leaders in the context of devolved management system.

The programme is one of many ESRA activities designed to improve policy and planning, enhance professional development opportunities for educators and administrators, increase youth and adult literacy, and promote and facilitate public-private and public-community partnerships for education. Representatives of ESRA and District and Provincial governments will attend the ceremony.
