Cohort of 110 will make valuable contribution to health
care in Pakistan
At Aga Khan University ‘s (AKU) twelfth Graduation Ceremony
of the Postgraduate trainees, 51 Interns, 45 Residents, 12 Fellows and 2 students
of Epidemiology and Biostatistical course were conferred certificates. To-date
1,377 trainees have graduated from various postgraduate training programmes
of AKU. At present, over a third of AKU’s clinical faculty comprises of
its own PGME graduates. Many more are working in US, UK, Europe, Australia,
Saudi Arabia and UAE.
The event included a formal academic procession of the faculty
members. Valedictory speeches were made by Dr Mohammad Abdullah, graduating
Intern and Dr Tayyaba Ansari, graduating resident. Around 800 guests including
faculty members attended the ceremony.
Congratulating the graduating trainees and their families, the
Chief Guest Ambassador Saidullah Khan Dehlavi, Chairman, AKU Board of Trustees,
said that the successful completion of their training will take them up the
ladder of life-long learning and devotion to ailing humanity besides making
invaluable contributions to health care in Pakistan.
Postgraduate Medical Education at Aga Khan University aims to
produce academic leadership for Pakistan and the region through Residency and
Fellowship programmes in 42 distinct disciplines. These programmes are structured
to provide rigorous training to students with increasing responsibilities under
the supervision of well qualified and dedicated faculty members.
The primary mission of AKU is the development of quality human
resources that are trained to respond to the unique needs of the
developing world.
