Aga
Khan University Hospital (AKUH) will provide high quality on-site
laboratory testing services to the recently refurbished South City
Hospital. Mr Nurullah Merchant (seated left), Director General of
University Administration signed the agreement on behalf of AKUH,
while South City Hospital was represented by their Chairperson and
renowned gynaecologist, Dr Sadia Rizvi (seated, centre).

Under the agreement, AKUH will provide state-of-the-art
laboratory testing and diagnostic services to the 62-bed South City
Hospital, in Clifton, which offers obstetrics and gynaecology, general
surgery, cardiac surgery and orthopaedics services, as well as a
cath laboratory. Consultants associated with the South City Hospital
include Dr Sadia Rizvi, Dr Mumtaz Meher and Dr Sohail Thobani. This
collaboration will make high quality laboratory services accessible
to patients of South City Hospital as well as those residing in
the south of Karachi. This initiative is in line with Aga Khan University's
guiding principles of quality, accessibility, impact and relevance.
AKUH provides quality laboratory testing and phlebotomy services
across Pakistan through a network of clinical laboratories, stat
laboratories and specimen collection centres. The first teaching
hospital in Pakistan to become ISO 9001: 2000 certified, AKUH ensures
that all its services have consistency through a meticulous process
of continual quality assurance.
