Aga Khan University
(AKU) is holding its 11nth National Health Sciences Research Symposium
on “Understanding and Managing Pain - Multidisciplinary Approaches”
from September 6 to 7. This is a multidisciplinary Symposium that
will provide a wonderful opportunity for eminent professional and
researchers in pain management to present their ideas and work,
share experiences, attempt to identify key problem in the area of
pain and the strategies to address relevant issues in Pakistan.
Invited speakers and delegates of 13 different countries including
India, Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar, Saudi-Arabia,
UK, USA, Iran, Nairobi, Masqat, and Australia are expected to attend
symposium.
Control of pain
has been a relatively neglected area across the world, particularly
in developing countries. The Symposium will raise awareness about
importance of pain management services and stimulate thinking to
improve education and research on relevant topics of pain.
The National
Health Sciences Research Symposium (NHSRS) is an annual event by
AKU on a topic relevant to Pakistan and the region. The recent past
symposia have focused on reproductive health, mental health and
health sciences education. The University appreciates that the endemic
problems of a region beset with financial difficulties and low development
indicators can be addressed only through relevant research focusing
on producing low cost, accessible and innovative solutions.
