Building
on an outreach programme that aims to
provide accessible, compassionate and high-quality care to patients
all over Karachi, Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) is now offering
off-site physiotherapy and rehabilitation services in the heart
of the old city. The new clinic, which opened last month, is part
of the Hospital's Integrated Medical Services (IMS) unit on M.A.
Jinnah Road and follows the successful launch of similar
services at Clifton Medical Services and Aga Khan Diagnostic and
Surgery Centre in Karimabad.
Supervised by
a skilled therapist, the M.A. Jinnah Road clinic provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art physiotherapy and rehabilitation
services for orthopaedic, neurological
and paediatric conditions. In addition
to its on-site physiotherapy facilities on Stadium Road, AKUH has also been offering Home-Based Physiotherapy
Services for the last four years. This cost-effective, time-saving and relatively risk-free facility brings physiotherapy
services to patients' doorsteps, enhancing independent function
in the context of home and community living.
"The
long-term plan is to introduce a multidisciplinary rehabilitation
approach with state-of-the-art therapeutic modalities and techniques
at the Physiotherapy Clinic at M.A. Jinnah Road," said Nasrullah Shaikh, Manager Physiotherapy
Services, AKUH.
