AKU Research and Policy Dialogue on Decentralisation in Education

Aga Khan University is organising a research and policy dialogue on key issues in education, in Islamabad, from July 10 to 12, 2002.

The purpose of the dialogues is to share the experiences of devolution and decentralization in the education sector from across the country, identify key lessons, issues and challenges so far, and discuss what can be done to ensure that decentralization does lead to improvement in the access and quality of education available to our children.

Participants will include policy-makers from federal, provincial and district levels in the government, including provincial education ministers and secretaries, as well as researchers, implementers from both public and private sectors, and representatives of NGOs.

This programme is the second of a series of dialogues on key issues in education. A similar dialogue had been held in Karachi in April 2002 on the theme of teacher education.
