Programme Structure and the Curriculum
Programme Structure
This is a two-year programme. In the first year there are seven coursework modules as listed below:

In the second year, students will be required to develop a research proposal.
The comprehensive programme will be offered on full-time basis over two years. Candidates who fail any assignment or research proposal will be given a single chance to redo the assignment or research proposal within the stipulated two years. However, if any candidate fails the second attempt then s/he would be dropped from the programme.

Graduation Requirements
The minimum required Grade Point Average (GPA) is 2.5, which will be applicable for all the modules including the thesis evaluation.
- All courses in all graduate programmes of AKU are assessed on a numerical scale of 0 to 100%. However, a quantitative method of assessment would be adopted for each course and would be approved by concerned Programme Director or Programme Committee.
- In addition to the numeric grades, a letter grade would also be awarded, in accordance with the following table. The weights attached to the letter grades would be used for computing the GPA.

- Grade C- is considered unacceptable at the graduate level, however a student securing this grade would be given a chance to appear in the re-sit examination.
- The minimum passing marks in a course is 60% or Grade C. Students securing below 60% marks will be considered failed in the course and would be required to appear in a re-sit examination.
- An overall GPA of 2.5 is required to graduate from all graduate programmes at AKU. The credits allocated for each course would be considered while calculating the GPA of a student. The students may be allowed to continue their studies with an aggregate GPA below 2.5 for a maximum of two consecutive terms, or one year only.
- Students obtaining an overall GPA of less than 2.5 will not be eligible to graduate.
- All final grades will be recorded as a whole number, decimal points > 0.5 will be rounded off to the nearest figure, while the decimal points below 0.5 will be omitted.
- Transcript would present the list of courses, their respective credit hours/week, marks obtained, letter grades, followed by the calculated GPA and a column for remarks by the Programme Director.
