  • 2nd Lahore School of Economics Parliamentary Debating Championship, 2008
    Lahore School of Economics, Burki Road, Lahore
    March 2-4, 2008

    Aga Khan University (AKU) defeated King Edward Medical College, Lahore in the semi-final and won the final by defeating Government College University, Lahore. Syed Daniyal Asad was presented the Best Speaker award. AKU was represented by:

  • 5th International Shahjiwana Debating Championship 2008
    Lahore
    February 29 – March 3, 2008

    The University College Lahore Association of Debaters invited AKU for the Championship. Out of 38 teams participating in the contest AKU team managed to reach the quarter final.

  • 7th GIKI International Parliamentary Debates, 2008
    Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), Topi, District Swabi, NWFP
    February 8-11, 2008

    The Literary and Debating Society of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology invited AKU to its 7th GIKI International Parliamentary Debates 2008. AKU was represented by:

    AKU faced Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore team for the semi finals and defeated them by 4:1 margin (Adjudicators’ Decision); AKU met Hindu College, Dehli, India Team-B for the finals and defeated them with 5:2 margins.

  • Dean's Debating Challenge Trophy 2007
    Aga Khan University, Karachi
    May 2007

    The first ever running trophy for AKU, was instituted by the Dean of AKU Medical College in May 2007, for students of AKU. The three day event including a Parliamentary Debate, an Urdu play and student-faculty alumni panel discussion was organised in collaboration by AKU Students Bio-Ethic Forum and AKU Students Public Speaking Forum.

    Winners were awarded the trophy with a cash prize of PKR 1000 each and runner-ups were presented a prize of PKR 500 each.

  • All Pakistan Inter-University Debating Contest for Award of ‘Allama Iqbal Shield'
    NED University, Karachi
    March 2007 

    Muhammad Umair Bashir, a second-year student obtained 1st position and a cash prize of PKR 5,000/- for his excellent debate in English.

  • 6th Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) Parliamentary Debates

    Syed Asad Daniyal, a second-year student, received the 1st Best English Speaker's Trophy.

    February 2007

    An AKU team comprising of Khurram Owais, Aziz Ahmed, Umar Bhatti, Ahsan Raza, Umar Rashid, Umar Tariq and Haider Warraich won a trophy at the competition.

  • All Pakistan Inter-University Debating Contest for Award of ‘Allama Iqbal Shield'

    Amad Khan and Omer Tarar secured 1st position, trophy and cash prize of PKR 1,500/-; Muhammad Umair Bashir and Shahid Sattar, obtained 2nd position and a cash prize of PKR 1,000/-; and Hassan Sajjad and Moneeb Virk obtained 3rd position and a cash prize of PKR 500/-.

  • 15th All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest 2006
    Cadet College Petaro, Petaro
    November 2006

    Muhammad Umair Bashir and Omer Tarar represented AKU. Teams from AKU, Government College, Lahore and DHA Women's College, Karachi shared the 2nd position (shield). In addition to this, Omer Tarar won Consolation Prize for his speech in Urdu.
