​Hematology faculty and residents attended HEMCON 2024, the annual conference of Pakistan Society of Hematology (PSH), in Islamabad, from February 1-4, 2024.

There was an excellent representation of AKU pathology department throughout the conference because of following participations:

 

  1. Professor Bushra Moiz- delivered her talk on “Many faces of Lupus: unfolding diagnostic challenges" as a Distinguished speaker in the session on Hemostasis and thrombosis.
  2. Dr Muhammad Ha​​san- delivered his talk on “Patient Blood management" as a Distinguished speaker in the session on Clinical blood transfusion.
  3. Dr Zeeshan Ansar- delivered his talk on “Cytogenetics and FISH in hematological malignancies" as a Distinguished speaker in the session on Next generation hematology.
  4. Dr Muhammad Shariq Shaikh- delivered an oral presentation for his research study on "Data mining of laboratory information system for establishing indirect hemoglobin A2 reference intervals in infants".
  5. Professor Salman ​Naseem Adil- chaired the session on Leukemia.
  6. Professor Muhammad Usman Shaikh- chaired the session on Clinical blood transfusion.
  7. Dr Natasha Ali- participated as the President of Pakistan blood & Marrow Transplant (PBMT) group and organized the sessions on hematopoietic stem cell transplant on day 4 of the conference.
  8. Dr Fatima Farhan- (resident year 3) won the 3rd prize in oral presentations category for presenting her research study "Are we facing an upsurge in window period doations".
  9. Dr Haleema Urooj- (resident year 4) delivered an oral presentation for her research study on "Clinicopathological spectrum of Pediatric Thrombocytopenia during Hospital stay".
  10. Dr Bhawna Kumari- (resident year 4) participated by displaying poster for her research study on "Bacterial contamination of platelets concentrates in a lower middle-income country".
