Imaging and Diagnostic Radiology Residency Training Programme
The Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging Residency training programmme is one of the three Radiology Residency Training programs in the country and is well known to produce top-notch Radiologists who have ventured into various fields of Radiology both locally and internationally.
Our mission is to provide excellent radiological services, education, and research. Majority of residents joining into the programme will have little exposure to Radiology and our training takes them through the basic sciences and gradually progresses them into the core Radiology training.
Our vision is to produce excellent Radiologists in terms of skills, knowledge, and attitude. Even with emphasis on academic excellence, we endeavor to produce all-rounded residents who are professional, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have attention to detail, employing evidence-based practice and able to practice both locally and internationally. The residents have the opportunity to train with highly specialised faculty who have trained both locally and internationally.
The faculty are involved in radiological work, educational and research activities from which the residents obtain mentorship and a rich training experience. Our residents have the opportunity to interact with various referring clinicians in various specialties and benefit from a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The department has various international collaborations, from which the residents receive additional training and learning resources.
The residents obtain hands-on experience in image interpretation and performing procedures under the guidance of faculty. We employ didactic, peer-to-peer, case-based and self-directed learning. As the residents undertake their dissertation projects, they get the opportunity to be mentored by various faculty members who are also involved in research.
The department is well equipped with high-end imaging equipment and has a broad referral base both locally and from the region which provides the residents with a rich patient mix. The residents also have the opportunity to learn from previous imaging studies that are archived in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Upon completion of training, our residents are much sort after and our alumni have ventured into various fields including private practice around the country, educational and research careers, and a large number have international fellowship sub-specialty training.
