Dr Iftikhar Salahuddin secures Peace Prize 2014

Dr Iftikhar Salahuddin, Consultant ENT Surgeon at Aga Khan University, secured third place in the Peace Prize 2014, for his recently published book titled ‘Jerusalem-A Journey Back in Time’. The award was presented by His Excellency Michael Koch, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, on February 7, 2014 at the Karachi Literature Festival.

Over the past few years, Dr Salahuddin has hosted multiple exhibits of his remarkably exquisite photography. His newly published book, along with being the perfect coffee-table companion, makes a splendid travelogue as it incorporates an impressive amount of research and stunning images from archives and the author’s own collection.

The Peace Prize is awarded to books that promote peace, international understanding and tolerance in the world. This prize has been given in Germany since 1951 and for the first time was awarded in Pakistan, in association with the Karachi Literature Festival. The Jury comprised of eminent Pakistani scholars and Human Rights leaders

Dr Iftikhar Salahuddin shared this award with two other authors: Professor Akbar Ahmad of USA for Thistle and the Drone and Mr Babar Ayaz of Pakistan for What is Wrong with Pakistan.
