The individual must have work experience in a large teaching hospital as a clinical pharmacist. S/he should have worked as a part of multidisciplinary team, preferably in a critical care area like ICU, NICU, CCU etc. The person is required to train our pharmacists from clinical pharmacy perspective, and should have good interpersonal communication skills. The main focus of training should be on:

  • Overview of therapeutics and clinical pharmacy practice through case presentations;
  • Therapeutic drug monitoring;
  • Tracking and investigation of ADRs;
  • Clinical drug evaluations;
  • Rational use of antibiotics;
  • Evidence based practice;
  • Specialty pharmacist.

Competencies Required (Skills and Abilities)
The individual may accompany our staff to the multidisciplinary clinical rounds

  • Good communication skills;
  • Should have command on the subject;

Due to increase of respiratory problems in adults and paediatrics, the role of Respiratory Therapist is very vital as a part of multidisciplinary team. In order to keep Respiratory Therapist updated in recent advances in management of critical patients we need to have a person having sound and updated knowledge.

S/he will be responsible to teach assessment and management of complex conditions requiring considerable independent judgment, such as caring for patients on life support in ICUs, the management of patient with chronic asthma or emphysema, as well as emergency care to patients who are victims of a heart attack, stroke, drowning, or shock.

  • Guide to evaluate aerobic/anaerobic exercise capacity in rehabilitation patients;
  • Demonstrate an effective and safe aerobic and anaerobic exercise programme for normal and specific population;
  • Demonstrate a complete exercise programme for athletes/sports man;
  • Implement a specific exercise stress test protocol in healthy and unhealthy populations including an understanding of risk stratification.

The volunteer would be asked to advice the office on the development of research related components in new academic programmes. The volunteer would also be requested to conduct relevant workshops for faculty and staff based on his/her area of expertise.

Terms of Reference
The volunteer should share, and help in the development of, detailed plans, manuals and procedures for putting into place a comprehensive system of zero based budgeting and to carry out trouble shooting during its implementation in a stipulated period of time. Specifically the individual should:

  • Review the current budgeting system at AKU;
  • Develop the revised Planning Process based on Zero Based Budgeting;
  • Ascertain the impact of Zero Based Budgeting on AKU;
  • Help in the development of a flow chart, plan with timelines, forms and other related documentations;
  • Develop the Budget Manual;
  • Give a comprehensive presentation as well to the Management of AKU covering the above items;
  • Provide assistance during the implementation of the Zero Based Budgeting System;
  • Review, evaluate and give feedback after the implantation of the system including the recommendations to improve the process further.

With the extremely rapid pace of technological developments in the field of telecommunications, user expectations of the person attending to their calls has also changed. Pre-recorded machine responses are no more a novelty and are expected by the callers whenever they call a multi-national organisation. However, the calls received at AKU are of such a nature that only limited pre-recorded messages can be used. Callers expect us to provide them very personalized services. The type of help and assistance we are thus seeking is as follows:

  • Help us create unique phrases, both in English and Urdu, which would either be used as pre-recorded messages or would be spoken by the telephone operators. These phrases would of course be of international standards;
  • Help train the telephone operators be courteous and polite as well as give them a whiff of international practices in the field of telephone operations;
  • Help develop a training manual for the telephone operators;
  • Help in effectively monitoring the activities of telephone operators.

Competencies Required (Skills & Abilities)

  • Must be able to converse well both in Urdu and English;
  • Must be well aware of the Pakistani culture.

Duration of Assignment
Preferably four weeks

Qualification Required
Educational qualifications are not very important. What is however important is that the person would have had a reasonable experience in the call centre industry in supervisory/managerial position.
