Project Manager, Student Information System

Aga Khan University’s Office of the Registrar and Information Systems Department will implement a new student information system and invite applications for the position of Project Manager, based in Karachi.

Responsibilities
The selected candidate would be an innovative and skilled professional whose primary responsibility would be overall management of the implementation of the University’s student information system to ensure quality implementation on time and within budget. S/he would be required to coordinate and supervise all project activities; obtain approval of plans; prepare and monitor plans; prepare status reports for the management and Steering Committee; and lead the project team. Some travel to East Africa may be required.

The following responsibilities are to be accomplished by the Project Manager throughout the life of the project:

  • Coordinate and manage all project activities;
  • Prepare and present project status reports, budget and schedule updates;
  • Develop and maintain the project plans;
  • Motivate and lead the Project Team;
  • Monitor day-to-day activities within the Project Team;
  • Escalate any outstanding issues or problems that cannot be resolved within the project team using the project’s escalation procedure;
  • Assist the Steering Committee and Project Directors in identifying and managing risks.

Requirements
Candidates should have:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Management or IT (Certification in Project Management – PMP or Prince2 – is desirable);
  • At least eight years’ work experience – four years at a managerial level;
  • Experience of leading ERP Student Information System implementation project at one or more educational institutions, preferably with  prominent local or international universities and ideally knowledgeable in PeopleSoft implementations;
  • Good analytical and project management skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Experience of dealing with external consultants is desirable;
  • Successful track record of working with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams in order to successfully manage the “change”.
