Associate Professor

Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of effective health education and health services relevant to Pakistan and the region. The Medical College has a traditional departmental structure, consisting of the clinical disciplines, a large Department of Community Health Sciences, and a Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences. State-of-the-art research facilities, including a purpose-built research building, are available on campus.

As part of a significant enhancement of its basic biomedical science research programmes, the University has undertaken a major interdisciplinary initiative in the area of Molecular Medicine. The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences (which includes the disciplines of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular and Population Genetics, Pharmacology and Physiology) is seeking to recruit an Associate Professor.

Responsibilities
The nature of the positions involve teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate (MBBS programme) and graduate (PhD programme in Health Sciences) levels, a strong commitment to research and active participation in the academic activities of the department and the institution.

Requirements

• Candidate should have a PhD, MBBS-MD/PhD, or equivalent qualification.
• S/he should have demonstrated excellence in both research and teaching, as well as substantial recent success in obtaining peer-reviewed grant support.
• Candidate should have good interpersonal skills as well as an ability to work as part of a dynamic team.
• Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications, experience and level of responsibility.
