Biography

I am an anthropologist and am interested in women's studies, religion and material anthropology. I have done extensive fieldwork among Iranian Zoroastrians in Yazd, Iran as part of my PhD project. During my fieldwork, I studied local Zoroastrian behaviour regarding laws of purity and pollution especially laws pertaining to menstruation curtailment.

I have been working with Prof Philip Wood since September 2022 on group formations under the Abbasids in Iraq and the Levant.  As an anthropologist, I endeavour to help my historian colleagues by providing a different perspective to the project.  I have also carried out fieldwork among Benedictine nuns in North Yorkshire, UK since 2022, researching ideas of group formation and the Habitus.
