Biography
Luay Mohammed is an Arabic language instructor at the Aga Khan University’s Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (AKU-ISMC). Luay has a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Baghdad, and he is a published novelist, short story writer, diarist, translator and essayist in Arabic. His latest novel Divine Names was published in English by Mira Publishing House, Leeds. Luay started to work at AKU-ISMC in February 2009, after 7 years of working as a full-time translator at Asharq Al-Awsat Newspaper. Since 1999, he has also been an Arabic lecturer at SOAS Language Centre. From 2002 to 2014, he was Visiting Lecturer at the University of Westminster, and from 2004 to 2016, he is an Arabic lecturer and Arabic coordinator at the Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS).
