Streaming audio of seminars held at AKU-ISMC now available online

Streaming audio files of selected seminars are now available from the AKU-ISMC website, bringing its academic seminars led by high profile speakers to users around the world via the internet. Streaming audio files of most seminars held at the Institute will be made available on the website, from now onwards.
Currently, audio files of seminars held at the Institute include: Dr Masud's A social constructionist approach to the study of Sharia, John Keane's The strange origins of representative democracy and Anti-Semitism in medieval England: some problems and questions regarding histories of religious conflict, presented by Anthony Bale. An audio recording of the Institute's most recent research seminar, Pilgrimages in South Asia through interdisciplinary approach: Sehwan Sharif as a case study, by Michel Boivin is also available. As well as audio files, a summary of the seminar's contents, photos and useful links continue to be made available to website users.
By providing streaming audio of seminars, the Institute hopes to continue to develop a multimedia resource based on its multidisciplinary approach to the study of Muslim cultures. AKU-ISMC is committed to enhancing its website as an internationally accessible learning portal, providing academic resources about Muslim cultures and heritages to all those who may be interested.
In addition to audio files, transcripts of selected lectures are also being made available. This includes the transcript of an interview (in Persian with English language summary) with prominent Iranian novelist Shahrnush Parsipur, who spoke at the Institute in 2007 as part of its Novel Eye series.
In due course, the relevant sections of the Institute's website will also be made available in a number of languages.
