Post Degree Opportunities

AKU-ISMC aims to support its students explore a range of different options after graduation from the MA in Muslim Cultures. Whether students wish to embark on an academic career, enter a professional occupation or participate in an internship, AKU-ISMC endeavours to offer as much support as possible to its alumni.

Internships

AKU-ISMC aims to offer students learning opportunities through internships with a range of institutions. Students are able to use the links made available to them through the Aga Khan Development Network, of which Aga Khan University is a part.

In 2008, AKU-ISMC students participated in an information session about the Aga Khan Academies. The Aga Khan Academies are an integrated network of schools located in Africa, South and Central Asia and the Middle East offering girls and boys an international standard of education from pre-primary to upper secondary levels with a rigorous academic and leadership experience.

As partnerships with other academic institutions, NGOs and businesses continue to expand, AKU-ISMC graduates will be able to embark on a range of exciting and relevant internship opportunities.

Alumni

The first cohort of MA in Muslim Cultures students will graduate from AKU-ISMC in late 2008. As this is the Institute’s first graduating class, the Institute intends to start building mechanisms to connect and engage the alumni both within the Institute and the University.

The Aga Khan University alumni foundation, founded in 1993, is the key method by which AKU alumni remain in contact with each other and the University. The Alumni Association consists of the North American Chapter in USA and the European Chapter in UK with its base and Central Office at the Karachi Campus.
