Certificate Course for Educators
The Certificate Course for Educators is intended to provide education about religion and not on religion. This perspective recognises that Muslim histories and cultures are an integral part of human history. This inclusive approach is gradually gaining prominence in academia and is becoming essential in redressing the historical amnesia prevalent in representations of the material and intellectual history of humanity. Another salient feature of the course is its interdisciplinary character. It is an approach in which disciplines like history, sociology, geography and other disciplines are drawn upon to help learners reach a holistic understanding of the subject.
Finally, the course adopts a critical-historical perspective which recognises that religious traditions, like all other cultural expressions, are born and continue to develop and evolve through time.
