On the 15th of January, AKU-ISMC hosted a film screening of An Islamic Conscience: The Aga Khan and the Ismailis. The film screening was followed by a Q&A session with the Director and Filmmaker Shamir Allibhai.
An Islamic Conscience: The Aga Khan and the Ismailis, directed by Emmy award winning director Bill Cran, explores the role of the Aga Khan and his quest for a common humanity in a divided world.
Director and filmmaker Shamir Allibhai said, “The film is intended to be a timely engagement with the concerns and issues presented. However, its release also happens to coincide at a time when the Ismailis are commemorating the Golden Jubilee of the Aga Khan, who fifty years ago became their 49th Imam (spiritual leader).”

| The audience included students, faculty and staff of the Institute. |
“I believe the story of the Aga Khan can be an engaging one and serve as a catalyst for addressing what he calls the clash of ignorance. Can his story point to a solution to the Muslim - non-Muslim world divide?”
The world premiere of the film was held at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the European premiere of the film was held at the Prince Charles Cinema, London on the 13th of January 2008.
The private film screening was attended by AKU-ISMC faculty, staff and students. A lively discussion with the film director followed the screening.
