Cities: Social and Cultural Change in Muslim Societies

Each speaker provides a contribution of 10 to 20 minutes followed by discussion.

Discussing Cities, an informal series of lunch time conversations, is a space for thinking, research and discussion of the issues of lived and built environments. Discussing Cities has involved scholars from a number of institutions including the School of Oriental and African Studies and the Aga Khan University Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations.

The study of urban spaces allows for an exploration of society and its actors within their contexts and lived environments. As an open discussion forum, Discussing Cities allows for the transmission and exploration of scholarship in the fields of social anthropology, material history, architecture etc. in a variety of settings.

Convened by Nelida Fuccaro and Stefan Weber. Attendance is open to all, however, please register your interest with stefan.weber@aku.edu.
