Guidelines for Internal Research Grant Budget

  1. The budget for an internal research grant will be developed by the Principal Investigator/s in consultation with the AKU-IED Finance office.
  2. The contact persons in Finance for budget are Ms Munira Sadiqi (Ext. 3402) and Mr Karim Jiwani (Ext. 3400).
  3. The finance team will normally take 7-10 working days to prepare the 1st draft of the budget after receiving the research proposal and other relevant information. Please work out research timelines accordingly.

  Normally the budget for an Internal Research Grant should cover the following costs:

  • Staffing cost
    • Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators (if any)
    • Research Assistant/Associate
    • Transcribers
    • Additional Staff (if any)
  • Stationary & other consumables
    • Including photocopies, data processing, audio video supplies, etc.
  • Communication costs
    • Courier, telephone, fax and internet utilization
    • Transcription costs
    • Travel, accommodation, transportation
  • Dissemination costs
    • Including conferences, seminars, workshops, editorial costs for the report, and others (provide details)

Note: Funds for international and national conferences for dissemination will be allocated as per conference funding guidelines. A separate approval should be sought for such conferences.
