Guidelines for Developing Research Proposal for Grant Funding
The following guidelines are given to help faculty develop proposals
they intend to submit to RAPSAC. The proposals should contain the
following:
- An introduction to the proposed research which should include
research purpose and research questions
- A summary of existing research literature on the topic and a
discussion/explanation of how the proposed research questions
relate to this literature
- A description of the research methods to be used and a justification
of the choice of methods; this justification should reflect the
authors knowledge of how the methods have been effectively used
to study similar research questions. Where possible and necessary
(as in survey) the research tools should be included.
- A description and justification of the research sample/ research
participants
- A description of the methods of analysis, a rationale for using
the method/s
- A description of potential ethical issues and procedures that
will be adopted to address them
- A list of expected outcomes from the study and their benefits
to the institution. Please refer to the criteria
for recommendation of research proposals.
- Timelines
- Complete references using appropriate academic conventions
- A budget statement (guidelines for budget statement)
The proposal must be accompanied with an information
sheet about the
Principal Investigator.
