Procedure for Ethics Approval
All research undertaken at Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), follows the policies and guidelines set by AKU-ERC. For Investigators at AKU-IED to obtain the ethics approval from ERC-URC the following procedure has to be followed.
- Down load the ERC Application Form and related guidelines available at http://www.aku.edu/res-office/res-erc-guidelines.shtml
- Submit a completed ERC Application Form and related documents to chair ERC-IED. He/she will provide comment and feedback on the readiness of the forms submission to ERC-URC
- Please build in about two weeks of turn around time before the last date of submission to AKU-ERC
- Once feedback is received from the chair ERC-IED submit a complete set of documents to AKU-ERC through the office of the secretary AKU-ERC
- It is the responsibility of the principal investigator in each case to ensure that the timelines and other guidelines provided by AKU-ERC
- ERC-URC will communicate the decision to the principal investigators.
- The principal investigators must communicate the decision to RAPS programme office so that a letter of release of funds may be issued
- Doctoral students will also follow the same procedure as noted above
- Ethics approval for masters and diploma students is also given by AKU-ERC but is routed through the office of the academic administration
