Sajid Ali joined
Aga Khan University-Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED)
in
June 1997. In 2004, he was appointed Senior Instructor.
His responsibilities include teaching Pedagogical Leadership,
Effective Leadership and Management course in the Master's
programme. He is also coordinating the Education Sector
Reform Assistance (ESRA) research programme at AKU-IED.
The programme includes five research studies on different
themes related to current education reform and decentralisation.
Mr Ali has extensive experience of doing research in
the areas of community education, impact evaluation, and
citizenship and human rights education. He has used both
qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in
these research areas.
Prior to joining AKU-IED, Mr Ali worked as a lecturer
at Hamdard Institute of Management Sciences. He has also
been a visiting faculty member at the Department of Sociology,
University of Karachi.
In 2003, he was honoured with the Commonwealth Youth
Leadership Award for Pakistan. He also received the A.R.
Kiyani Gold Medal in 1997 for securing first position
in Sociology at Karachi University.
