Mir Afzal Tajik joined Aga
Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED)
in August 2000 as a Senior Instructor. His major responsibilities
at AKU-IED include teaching and research. He teaches teacher
learning, school as a learning community, strategic planning
and development, and pedagogical leadership courses in the
Master of Education programme. He has also played an active
role in contributing articles for the Mathematics Association
of Pakistan (MAP) Newsletter.
Mr Tajik completed his doctoral studies from the Ontario
Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto.
His thesis title was "From Educational Reformers
to Community Developers: The Changing Role of Field Education
Officers of Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan".
Mr Tajik has extensive experience of designing, implementing
and evaluating professional development programmes for
teachers, head teachers and teacher educators. He has
also played a leading role in implementing community-based
school improvement projects in Chitral, Pakistan.
Prior to joining AKU-IED, Mr Tajik worked as a teacher,
teacher educator, and Training Programme Officer with
the Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan.
