Dr Jan-e-Alam Khaki joined Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) in August 1998 as a Senior Instructor. His major engagements include teaching various courses including PhD and MEd. His areas of specialization are management and leadership, philosophy, curriculum studies, teacher education, studies of cultures and civilizations of Muslim societies. He is currently Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Advance Diploma Programmes at AKU-IED
Mr Khaki has rich experience in designing and implementing professional development programmes for teachers, head teachers and teacher educators. He is a multi-disciplinarian and is well versed in various disciplines, such as education, philosophy, study of religions with special focus on Islam.
Prior to joining AKU-IED, Mr Khaki worked at ITREB-Pakistan as a teacher, teacher educator, curriculum developer, besides having other professional engagements. He has conducted various programmes, such as youth and community development, in many regions of Pakistan and abroad. He has also conducted teacher education programmes in Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Linka, Tajikistan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Canada.
