Azra Naseem is a Senior Instructor and the Coordinator of Open Learning at Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED). Her teaching is in e-learning and related areas. She coordinates and teaches an online Certificate in Education: Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for Educators and also teaches a graduate course in 'Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Assessment.' She has recently developed an ICT literacy course for graduate students at AKU-IED. She has extensive experience of instructional design for distance learning, and has conducted ICT integration programmes both within and outside Pakistan. She has led the e-learning design of a web-based Virtual Learning Environment, IEDOnline, which is currently used in teacher education programmes at AKU-IED. She has supervised several Master of Education theses in her areas of interest.
Azra Naseem's research interests are in the design and testing of new e-learning systems. To this end, she has recently undertaken study of designing video-based virtual learning environment for field experiences in teacher education programmes. As well, she has been active in studying the use of ICT for learning and teaching in a range of settings, including teacher education and education of health care providers.
Ms Naseem is an elected member of the Academic Review Committee (ARC), which is the academic policy making body at AKU-IED and chairs the Students' Academic Progress Committee (SAPC), which is a sub-committee of ARC. She is a member of curriculum review committee of the Human Development Programme at Aga Khan University (AKU). Also, she is a member of E-Learning Technical Committee (eLTC) at AKU and is leading the piloting of synchronous communication/e-learning software, Elluminate, at AKU-IED.
