Dr Ayesha Bashiruddin is an Assistant Professor and Head Programmes at AKU-IED. She joined AKU-IED in June 1997 as an English Language faculty. In May 2003, Dr Bashiruddin was elected Chair of Faculty Meetings for a period of two years. She is also a member of the Academic Review Council of AKU-IED.
Prior to joining AKU-IED, Dr Bashiruddin taught English at Intermediate and degree levels at the College of Home Economics, University of Peshawar.
Dr Bashiruddin has extensive experience of developing and conducting language teacher education programmes in a variety of settings in Pakistan.
As one of the founder members of the Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT), Peshawar Chapter, she played a leading role in developing SPELT as Pakistan's dynamic professional association in English Language Teaching.

- MA (Applied Linguistics), with special reference to English as a Foreign Language, University of Durham, UK
