Professional Associations
AKU-IED continues to pursue professional development of teachers
and teacher educators in new and innovative ways. In support of
this, AKU-IED has, over the years, actively supported the setting
up of various national level professional associations. Recently,
these associations were brought under the umbrella of Professional
Teachers Associations Network (PTAN). The PTAN got funding support
from the Social Institutional Development Programme to carry out
its activities for the next two years.
The professional associations are as follows.
Mathematics Association of Pakistan
The Mathematics Association of Pakistan (MAP) was formed in July
1997 under the IAP-AKF partnership to promote interaction and sharing
between mathematics teachers to improve the quality of teaching.
Science Association of Pakistan

education in Pakistan" by providing a facilitative forum for science

of Education
